The North Georgia Knitting Guild organizes regular workshops to expand knitting and crochet skills. Workshops are taught by members and held in members’ homes.
We are always looking for hosts for upcoming NGKG workshops! When workshops are hosted in a member’s home they can take the workshop for free. If the instructor is also hosting, they may apply $25 per occurrence to another workshop. For example, if there is a two-part workshop and both parts are hosted by the instructor, then the instructor may take two $25 workshops at no charge.
Fees
Workshop fees are $25 for Members and $30 for Non-Members (Note that if you choose to pay online or via credit card in person, there will be a $1 fee added). All workshop fees must be paid no later than one week (7 days) prior to the workshop date to confirm participant’s place in the workshop. Places will not be held for a participant until payment is received.
Registration
Members are able to register for a workshop immediately after they are announced, and non-members are able to register one week after it is announced. Participants may cancel their participation in a workshop, but no refunds will be issued when cancelled within one week (7 days) of the workshop date.
If you are interested in attending a workshop or have any questions, please email the VP of Workshops. Please note that your place will be not held until payment is received. Payments for workshops can be done online via our online store or in person via credit card, cash, or check. Checks may also be mailed to the VP of Workshops. Please email the VP of Workshops for the best address.
If the guild needs to cancel a workshop, registered and paid participants will receive a full refund. If the guild needs to change a workshop date, time, location or description, participants may request a refund or apply the payment toward a future workshop if they can no longer attend.

More Braids Mitts Workshop by Amy Roberts
Friday October 16th (SOLD OUT) and Saturday October 24th
Single color and two color lateral braids add a distinctive flair to these fingerless mitts. In this workshop, you will learn the difference between Estonian and Latvian lateral braids and how to knit each one.
These mitts are designed for Sport weight yarn, but can be knit in DK weight for slightly larger mitts. A solid or tonal yarn is needed for the main color. A solid or tonal yarn in a contrasting color is needed for the two color braids.
Homework, yarn selection and hostess address will be sent to the paid students prior to the workshop.
Tunisian Crochet Wonders Workshop by Phyllis Nadle
Friday November 6th and Saturday November 7th
Tunisian crochet (or Afghan crochet) is a crochet technique that uses a long hook (or one with a cable) because you work multiple stitches at once like in knitting. There are a large variety of stitches that build fluffy, thick beautiful fabric. In this workshop we will learn the basics of Tunisian crochet. We will start with Tunisian Simple Stitch with a single color of yarn. By the end of the class you will learn how to stitch with 2 colors.
You will need worsted weight, DK, or Sport weight yarn and a Tunisian crochet hook or cable. The hook used is 3 sizes larger than would be used with single strand crochet.
Beginner experience is sufficient, but must know how to crochet. There is no homework.
