Education Resources

On top of the resources gained from being a member of the North Georgia Knitting Guild, there are various other resources to provide education and content to expand your knowledge and skills in the fiber arts. Below are only a few of the resources that we recommend.

The Knitting Guild Association (TKGA)

www.tkga.com

The TKGA is the only national nonprofit organization that is dedicated to knitting.  They offer several certifications, including the TKGA Master Knitting program, as well as correspondence courses.  The North Georgia Knitting Guild is a member guild of the TKGA.

The Atlanta Knitting Guild (AKG)

The AKG is another knitting guild local to the Atlanta area. The AKG meets on the first Thursday of the month online via Zoom or in person at Dunwoody N. Shallowford Annex, 4470 N Shallowford Rd, Atlanta, GA 30338. Social Knitting begins at 6:30PM and meeting begins at 7:00PM.

The Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance (SEFAA)

SEFAA supports a variety of fiber arts, with exhibitions, meetings, and classes.  The SEFAA Center is located at 3420 W Hospital Ave, Chamblee, GA 30341.

The Craft Yarn Council (CYC)

www.craftyarncouncil.com

The CYC has a Certified Instructors program, as well as a vast listing of standards that the industry uses.  For example, there is a Yarn Weight Standards page, which lists yarn weights from Lace to Jumbo, along with information about each weight.  There is a thorough listing of Knitting Pattern Abbreviations, Knitting Chart Symbols, and Standard Body Measurements as well.  The Head Circumference Chart page is helpful for making different sizes of hats.  The CYC website is a great resource for both new and experienced knitters.

The Crochet Guild of America (CGOA)

The CGOA is an online crochet guild.  Their website is filled with resources and classes for crocheters, including a Masters Program.
